What they really think

Account Planning has increased in importance within the advertising industry. We are such a diverse society so that those past general campaigns to the mainstream housewife no longer work. EVERY business needs to understand what their consumers think about their company and how that can influence their brand and sales. Despite common knowledge, a business' brand lies in the hands of the consumers; its all about what the public thinks.
Now the issue is just how to figure out what consumers think about you. I've really discovered an innovative site that can solve that problem for the companies that don't have the luxury of knowing account planning. Its called Brand Tags. Basically, when a person goes to the site, the opening page has a brand name and it's logo and the person types in the first word or phrase that comes to mind. The site then generates a "word cloud" of all the tags that a brand that has been submitted. The larger the word, the more times it's been associated to the brand.

For example, here is a snippet of some of what people typed in when they see Southwest Airlines.

It can give a marketer a good idea of where they lie in the market. It just might not be what they want to hear.
